This summer, you have two ways to revel in the thrill of polo at the Saratoga Polo Association's Whitney Field, one of the oldest polo fields in the United States. On the general admission side, you can back your car up to the playing field, set up chairs and tables, and lay out refreshments, from pitchers of lemonade and sangria to cheese plates. Or you can join the VIP side of the field, where fans dress in natty attire and enjoy drinks in an air-conditioned clubhouse. No matter what side you end up on, you'll enjoy the fast-paced game: the swift action as a team sends the ball flying down the field on a fast break, the ground-shaking thunder of galloping horses and the screaming fans. Polo matches are played in Greenfield Center (five minutes from downtown Saratoga Springs) on Whitney Field or adjacent fields at 5:30 p.m. every Friday and Sunday evening through Sept. 3. Seats on the lawn and in the bleachers are $20 per person (free for kids 12 and under), the reserved clubhouse is $30 per person ($15 for kids 12 and under), and unreserved tailgate space is $30 per vehicle.
