The Dance Department hosts grand reopening

Celebrate the grand reopening of The Dance Department, a full-service dance studio in Clifton Park. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held Sept. 26 at 4 p.m., to commemorate changes at the studio, including its new management by dancer and long-time Dance Department parent Connie Sweeney. The event will feature an open house with entertainment by student dancers, light food and refreshments and a question and answer session with Sweeney, staff members and dancers.

Sweeney plans to implement online initiatives like registration, scheduling and a parent portal, a stronger social media presence and Department promotions including free pitching lessons from Sweeney’s husband, former major leaguer Brian Sweeney, and a “Meet us at the Barre” adult ballet class.

The former owner, Lauren Kent, will still teach dancing, though she is stepping down from her business operations role.

“We are so grateful for Miss Lauren, the foundation of the studio, for her commitment to the dancers and their families by creating a culture we can all be proud of,” Connie Sweeney says. “We look forward to working with Lauren and all of our great instructors who will continue to inspire our students”
