Carrie Bradshaw would be the first to tell you that the shoes make the outfit

"Quite possibly my favorite trend of the summer comes in the form of footwear," says sales associate Lianne Klopfer of Violet's of Saratoga, at 494 Broadway. "Block heels are having a moment and we are here for it! No more hobbling around in stilettos. Cute and comfortable? Yes please! One particular pair - the Sam Edelman Susie, in blood orange, have been flying out of here. They're simple but the color makes a statement. Mules and slides are really popular too, and are available in flats as well as mid to high heels."

"What I have seen everywhere this season are wraparound ties at the ankle and a chunky heel (which I love!)," Bannon says. "I'm not a stiletto kind of gal, so the chunky heel is everything to me! I also find the wraparound ties very flattering on the ankle, because it hits your leg at the smallest point."

You can never go wrong with a neutral shade, but that doesn't mean you can't get a little crazy sometimes.

"Neutrals are so versatile but we love a bold shoe with a simple dress," Klopfer says. "Don't be afraid to mix colors! We recently helped a customer style a powder blue dress, and a barely-there sandal in pink added the perfect pop. Unexpected, but so much fun."

She continued: "For casual sandals, flats and wedges that wrap around your ankle are really popular, in browns and black but also colors, like coral and navy."

"I always love a pop of color, so I think mixing up your outfit with a bright orange or blue shoe really makes a statement," Bannon says.

"If you're more of a subtle kind of person, you could always wear a metallic shoe, which would go with anything and is still on-trend," Klopfer says. "Those styles translate beautifully in dresses too, and they work day or night. Just change your footwear and you're good to go." S
